My birthday in Alaska was amazing! First, my roommate, Stephanie, decorated my classroom the night prior and made me cookies. She made me chocolate chip cookies from scratch and they were great! Throughout the day, staff members at Chief Paul came into my classroom and wished me a happy birthday. When we had our afternoon staff meeting, the staff sang Happy Birthday to me in both English & Yugtun.
There have been some gorgeous sunrises and sunsets for the past two weeks. I have been in awe of them.
Last but not least, I got to experience going on the roof of the school with the guidance of one of the maintenance workers. Wow, it was so amazing to see the whole village from this perspective. It was a beautiful day to go on the roof as there were not many clouds in the sky, which does not happen much in Kipnuk.
I am very grateful for all the donated books and supplies given to my classroom! Thank you so much. You all rock.
