The past two weeks have been filled with adventure. To begin, my roommate and I went berry picking. We went behind a church and where there were a good amount of berries. It was so much fun! We tried to make Akutaq with the berries, which is an Alaskan ice cream, but we did not add the correct amount of ingredients. We will try again!
Next, my roommate and I were given some moose from a Yugtun Teacher at our school. Stephanie and I decided that we should make moose meatloaf. Moose is very similar to beef, so it did not taste much different from a regular meatloaf.
Lastly, I have been able to go on a few walks through the village. Whenever my roommate and I see any kids they will often yell "new teachers!" and run up to us. They like to walk with us and ask us questions about a wide variety of subjects. Along with kids, dogs will also run up to us and greet us. I really enjoy these walks as I get to know the village better.
